About Us
Terra Dotta has been creating software solutions since 2001 to enhance the delivery of learning capabilities and the administration of schools and other educational organizations.
Brandon Lee and Garrett Christian founded Terra Dotta in order to meet instructors’ needs that could not be met through other products. As Technology Coordinators at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the mid-1990s, Lee and Christian assisted professors and graduate students with implementing technology in the classroom. Semester after semester, they were asked the same questions:
· Can I put video or audio of myself on a web site so students can hear my pronunciation?
· Can my students submit audio to me electronically instead of making audiocassettes that are hard to track?
· What do we do about discussion forums that don’t allow accented characters?
· How do I digitize part of a video or song and put it online?
· Can you build me a utility that I can use to create electronic flash cards?
· How do I make online assessments?
· Can we have audio discussion forums?
The list goes on… While content management systems were able to organize textual data, they did not address the multimedia needs of many classrooms. Edufolio was created to address these specific multimedia concerns through an easy-to-use interface for students and instructors.
